Month in photos - June 2012

Another month .. winter is well and truly here: lots of rain and cold nights. Gumboots and wet weather gear are part of everyday life now. Soon we will be enjoying finnish summer so can't really complain ..

Jasper the Cat

Meet Jasper the cat. I have always considered myself as a dog person but Jasper has changed my perspective slightly. Jasper actually acts more like a dog than a cat (in my opinon anyway): he is curious, friendly and loves human company. Jasper belongs to my mother-in-law and my son adores him.

Jasper's mate Minnie wasn't so up for photos - she preferred to observe the situation from under the table.

Everyday inspiration - story time

I love these story time photos .. we read lots of books every day but I really cherish the little story time we have after my son wakes up from his nap. I also like to show you how you can take lovely images of normal everyday situations - no need for fancy back drops or complicated posing.

Our Month in photos - May

Autumn is slowly turning to winter. My sons bike is clocking up the miles or should I say kilometers. We also discovered that riding through autumn leaves is also lots of fun. I'm still in love with my new camera - it has been lots of fun experimenting and learning all it's functions.Also slowly getting ready for our trip: we all have our passports sorted and I also need to work out my phone (if it works in Finland - and if - not need to make some alternative arrangements).

Autumn leaves - family portrait session

Here is a session I did with little Patrics family. It was a perfect setting for an autumn shoot: sun was shining and the leaves were falling off the trees as I was shooting away.

Welcome to the world - Patrick Arthur

Intoducing little Patrick - he is so sweet. His mum, dad, big brother and sister were thrilled of his arrival. We took these photos when Patrick was only 8 weeks old and he was so alert already. I also did an outdoor shoot with the whole family - will post those images soon - stay tuned.

Our month in photos - April

Running bit late with the monthly collage but I guess better late than never. We have enjoyed lovely autumn weather: lots of warm sunny days to play outside, take photos and go for family bike rides. Two big purchases in April: the D800 and my sons balance bike. Both have been in daily use since they arrived.

My new (camera) body - Nikon D800 - part 1

When my new camera was delivered a week ago I just couldn't believe it was finally here. After months and months of waiting the announcement from Nikon and then few months wait once it was ordered.  So I've had the camera for a week and what do I think .. ? I personally think this camera just blows your mind. It's so sharp and crisp and after taking my first images I just couldn't believe my eyes .. They say that this is the best DSLR that has been ever made.

The D800 has more resolution than any other full-frame DSLR by a large margin, more than twice as many pixels as Nikon's own brand-new professional Nikon D4 that sells for twice the price!

if you look close enough you can see my refelction in my sons eye taking the photo.

Then couldn't resist to take an image in  my dark kitchen on a cloudy afternoon:
